Babo: how to play

Point at who goes first. Face the next person. Don’t overthink it.

Players

3 or more, in a circle.

What you need

Fingers. That’s the whole diner set.

Setup

Point at who goes first. Face the next person. Don’t overthink it.

How to play

  1. Say a number and hold up fingers at the same time. Same breath.
  2. Mouth number and finger number have to be different. That’s the gag.
  3. Next person goes right now. No speech.

Example round

You say “three” and hold up one finger. Next says “one” and holds up four. Clean.

When the round ends

Same number on your mouth and your hand, you’re out this round.

Common mistake

Peeking at your own hand, then matching it. Freeze, or a fist with no number, that’s out this round too.

No-alcohol version

Play exactly the same rules with water, soda, tea or no drinks at all. When someone is out this round, they simply sit out, start the next round, or take a light forfeit the table agreed on beforehand — such as choosing the next game or spinning the wheel.

Play responsibly

Soju Playland is for adults. If you choose to drink, you must be of legal drinking age where you are (for example 19 in South Korea and 21 in the United States) — and the site itself is for ages 18 and up. Drinking is never part of the rules: nobody has to drink, a pass is always fine, and water or soda works for every game. Never pressure anyone to drink, never treat these games as a drinking contest, and never drink and drive.
