Nunchi: how to play
The last number is how many people are playing. Anyone can shout the next number. Same number twice, or the last number, and that person is out this round.
Players
3 or more.
What you need
Voices; no equipment is needed.
Setup
Count heads. That number is the last number. Six of you? The run is 1 to 6. Write it on a napkin if you have to.
How to play
- Anybody can bark “1”. Do not wait your turn. There isn’t one.
- Somebody else hits “2”. Then “3”. Keep climbing.
- The run dies when somebody lands the last number, or two people say the same one.
Example round
Four in the booth. The run is 1, 2, 3, 4. Sam and Alex both yell “3”. Nice going.
When the round ends
Same number twice, or the one who says the last number, is out this round.
Common mistake
Waiting for “your turn” for someone to assign you a turn. Hesitate and the table can bounce you too.
No-alcohol version
Play exactly the same rules with water, soda, tea or no drinks at all. When someone is out this round, they simply sit out, start the next round, or take a light forfeit the table agreed on beforehand — such as choosing the next game or spinning the wheel.
Play responsibly
Soju Playland is for adults. If you choose to drink, you must be of legal drinking age where you are (for example 19 in South Korea and 21 in the United States) — and the site itself is for ages 18 and up. Drinking is never part of the rules: nobody has to drink, a pass is always fine, and water or soda works for every game. Never pressure anyone to drink, never treat these games as a drinking contest, and never drink and drive.
